Our story

Community Justice Alternatives of Durham Region, a Non-Profit organization is pleased to announce that it will be offering Restorative Justice Training. This training has been found to help in many facets of career and life.

Mediation Skills (Certificate Course)


This is a 21 hour course introducing participants to the transformative mediation model used by community-based conflict resolution organizations. Some of the topics covered include: an introduction to mediation, the unresolved conflict cycle, the role of the mediator, the co-mediation model, techniques for dealing with individuals in conflict, how to create a safe space, understanding personality styles, interpersonal communication skills and creating a memorandum of understanding.

 

Cost: $550 + HST

Advanced Mediation Skills (Certificate Course)


This is a 14 hour course building on the training from the Mediation Skills Training Certificate Course. The focus is on an advanced use of communication and interpersonal skills including reframing, paraphrasing and summarizing with in-depth discussions on power, control and culture in mediation.

Pre-requisite: Mediation Skills Training Certificate Course or equivalent (Contact office for more information).


Cost: $450 + HST

Restorative Justice Track

 

 

Victim Offender Facilitated Dialogue (Certificate Course)

This 21 hour sought after training begins with a focus on the history and philosophy of restorative justice as an alternative to the current criminal justice system.  Victim offender dialogue processes are explored and practiced through role-play with an emphasis on victim offender facilitated dialogue.
